Why did you choose to work at Hilsmier?
I was looking for a new opportunity and wanted to be part of a team that shared my values – one I’d be proud to say I was part of. “Clients come first” is a phrase commonly used by consultants, but it’s rare to find a group of people committed to the idea that they’re only as successful as they’ve allowed their clients to be. Because Hilsmier was a fairly new firm at the time, there was a sense that our reputation (and future growth) rested on nailing each and every project. That mindset remains in place today and drives us to continue doing our best for our clients. To me, joining Hilsmier represented a unique, exciting opportunity to be part of a team whose value proposition actually lines up with its values.
What does a ‘normal’ day look like for you?
To be honest… no day is 100% “normal”! But I can say that my day-to-day schedule tends to be driven by what’s happening with my current project(s) and the amount of collaboration versus coordination my team needs at that point.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
When I joined Hilsmier I was seeking more ownership over my work, and in my time with the firm I’ve been encouraged to take on multiple “stretch” roles, internally and on client projects. It’s rewarding to know that my colleagues trust me and want to see me grow, and being held accountable for my work makes each accomplishment or project milestone that much more fulfilling.
What are your hobbies outside of the office?
When I’m not in the office, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, trying new restaurants and recipes, listening to (a few too many) podcasts, and getting out to the mountains as often as possible.
